Welcome Elf to Humphrey House

Elf is a sweet 8 year old male Chihuahua that is being treated for a broken pelvis.

Elf was found as a stray running the streets in South Carolina. The local shelter was closing for Thanksgiving break, so the person who found Elf was keeping him at their home in the meantime. Elf escaped their yard and was attacked by the neighbor's larger dog. Elf suffered several puncture wounds, a ruptured testicle, and his pelvis was crushed. Elf was taken to a vet and neutered right away, removing the ruptured testicle. He was also vaccinated and microchipped while waiting to be transported to Maryland. Now that Elf has arrived, we will consult with an orthopedic surgeon to address his broken pelvis.

Elf is such a sweet little boy. He is currently underweight at only 3 pounds (a healthy weight for him should be around 5 pounds). Elf is currently on crate rest and pain medications while we search for the right vet to treat him.

We are so grateful to the volunteer transporters who drove all day to get Elf to Humphrey House for Homeless Animals just in time for Christmas. 💗🎄 Transporters save lives!
